Unplug, Relax, Unwind

We’d like to thank everyone that participated in the first annual #GeneseeEarthWeek. Whether you checked in every day, or just one time, your participation is valued and your contribution to conservation is priceless. We are pleased that our plans could be adapted to follow the Governor's Stay Home Stay Safe Order while still raising awareness and engaging in safe action toward making Every Day Earth Day.

On the last day of #GeneseeEarthWeek, we challenge you to unplug for one hour at any time today. Unplugging is a great way to save money and have a positive impact on the environment.

Residential appliances plugged in but not in use, such as your microwave oven and TV, draw “standby power”. Home appliances drawing standby power can amount to 5-10% of your energy bill (Standby Power).

Just imagine how much energy we can save collectively by unplugging for an hour.

Use the “unplugged hour” to explore the natural wonders in your yard, settle into the hammock, read a book, meditate, draw, write, or revisit one of the activities from earlier in the week.
